I tried to restart the pc and there was lots of garbage, strange signs and colored pixels. then there was this message:
out of range
HF: 30 - 95 KHz
VF: 47 - 160 Hz
27,9 KHz 53 Hz
start up does not work, it keeps rebooting automatically and there is the same garbage display. The monitor is still ok, tested on another pc.
I just checked the system box again and then I saw that the fan of the videocard + the plastic holder were all loose! But the fan is still connected with the electrical wires. Could this have anything to do with al these problems (garbage on screen, windows not starting up)?
I'm trying to remove the videocard, after which windows should run normally, is that right? How do I remove a videocard, i've no idea how to do that?

Yes, it most likely has everything to do with your problem...the description of which sounds an awful lot like an 'extra crispy' video card. Without the heatsink/fan the video card will quickly heat to the point that it will literally fry.

There should be a single screw on the exterior of the case, holding the card in. Remove that screw and then card should pull right out...

I removed the screw and hold a little lever that should hold the videocard in its place, but I still can't get the videocard out. It seems like it's stuck on the monitor input side. the videocard is nvidia geforce 7900gt, motherboard is asus A8N-E.
It may take a little force...not too much, but if the cable and screw have been removed and you are holding the lever, then it is just the pins in the slot holding the card in.

Ok I removed the videocard. But the monitor was connected to the videocard. I don't see any connector that fits the monitor connector. How do I connect the monitor to the motherboard?
You don't...you will need a different video card...this motherboard does not have on board video.

About the videocard, nvidia geforce 7900gt, the fan was loose and the holder also. But the fan is still connected to the electrical wire. Is this easy to repair or would i better get a new videocard?
If the fan is loose, then in all likelihood the card is fried. If all it produces when installed is 'garbage' then the chances of being fried are nearly 100%.
There is no 'fix'...as it would require at least new memory chips to be soldered on to the card...if not a new GPU itself. Those are not parts that are available to even large repair shops...short of cannibalizing another card for them, and if you are going to get an exact same card to pull apart for parts (one that is known to be working 100%), then you might as well just stick it in the computer, instead.

Ok, these are the parts:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
1024mb RAM
Asus A8N-E 939 socket for AMD CPU
win xp
previous videocard: XFX geforce Nvidia 7900gt
I would like to get a new videocard for medium-heavy games, but I have no idea which are compatible. What do I look for? Also, because the previous videocard had a fan that was broken, i'd rather have a videocard without a fan, is that possible? And what videocard would i better avoid?
