When I turn the pc off, I still hear a high tone pinch sound, I'm not sure where it comes from. And only when I turn off the power supply as well, the sound dissapears. So what is this sound and what part does it come from? The videocard has already been removed.

How loud is it?

it's not very loud (but you can clearly hear it) but the sound is uninterrupted.

I'd say it is probably the power supply...and it is not a good sign when the power supply is making any kind of noise other than the sound of moving air/a fan.

Sounds like (no pun intended! :p) one of the circuits inside the PSU has gone bad. I would suggest you replace it.

It is either a bad fan in the PSU or bad capacitor in the PSU per your description of symptoms.

I checked the capacitors, but there was no goo coming out. I listened more closely and the sound seems to come from the power supply. What does this mean? When I turn the power supply off, the sounds brakes down like a motor when it's coming to a halt, and then it's quiet.

Time to replace the power supply...
