Hello and welcome to the PCGuide! The 8600 has a faster memory clock by 180MHz... so I would go with that.

When it comes to GPU performance, not everything is based of the clock speed. Core architechture is the most important aspect. Also, certain games run better on different cards because of the programming used.

Go with the 9500 GT.

any specific reason?
When adding a video card it is totally independent of what type of RAM your motherboard uses.
If they made an AGP video card that had DDR5 it would still work in a motherboard that used SDRAM (pre-DDR).
So don't get too hot and bothered over the motherboard RAM/video card RAM non-issue.
As to why the 9500...newer/better GPU.
