I have a evga geforce 8600 with the 256mb ddr3 ram on it. now i am wondering if i will be able to run COD 5 and GTA 4 when they come out on the PC? i ran COD 4 without a problem on fairly good settings (i usually don't run any game above 1024x768 though). Will my card allow me to run these games when i get them? Everything else is more than up to running it.
And my next question is, how set on PC components would i be, if i actually went backwards, to the older 6800 series cards? i wanted one of those as soon as they came out but couldn't afford any. more specifically i wanted the god of a card that was the BFG 6800 Ultra 512mb OC. only problem of course is finding one of thsoe now. they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Actually any 6800 series cards has..........even on ebay i could only find 1 6800 series. Is there a card out now that compares to the older 6800 Ultra 512 OC? any that can be had for under 200 that is..........idk how much the 6800's would go for if i could find one.
EDIT: my mother bored is the older PCIe 16x. will i be able to run the newer PCIe 2.0 cards? i read somewhere online that you can run PCIe 2.0 cards in the older PCIe and only a few video cards actually don't work when doing this. I ask because i found a BFG 9800 GTX+ 512mb DDR3 PCIe 2.0 and i wondered if i could run it?
