I recently obtained a copy of Fallout 2 which I installed. The game would run fine for a short while, then all of a sudden it would crash to the desktop without any error message or sound. I have an 8800 GT and an E8400 both overclocked but the temps are around low 30's for my CPU and High to low 40s and 50s with my GPU. All the lastest drivers are installed to my knowledge. Thanks for any help.

Is this farcry 2 or fall out 2 we are talking about here?

When you say your CPU and GPU are OC'ed are the voltages stable? Whats the AM clocked at? Whats the MOBO NB temp? Also when OC'ing your GPU what speed is the shader and memory clocks at ?

On far cry to i got a crash to desktop just like the game was closed, i just shrugged it off and started it up again (even though its a terrible game )

Next question...is the game a retail CD/DVD to install from or a 'cracked'/downloaded version?

This fixed the problem with Far cry 2 CTD

1. I uninstalled the game and deleted all saved games

2. reinstalled the game with av disabled

3. Now when you launch the game it automatically starts installing updates. (patch 1.01). Dont let it. Cancle it and the game will still launch.

Ever since I did that I havn't had any problems.

I also don't use quick save (F5) anymore since that was when I started CTD on the first install.

I am using Win Vista 32 bit with EVGA 8800 GTS 640 MB, Core 2 Duo 6750, and 4gigs of OCZ Reaper on an MSI P6n MOB.
