How do I set up my computer to run dvd video now that I have installed a dvd player?
Okay, I'm feeling kind of dumb here, but what the hell. I just built my own computer and installed a dvd (vs a cd-rom). It runs just fine, plays games, music CDs. Now, I am new to DVDs (even the ones you use in the home) and I would like to occasionally run movies on the dvd player I installed. I understand that I can either use a hardware or software decoder to run dvd movies. My video card does not have any dvd features. My question: are hardware decoders better than software (I'm running athlonxp 1700+ on a new fast mobo)? If I opt for a hardware solution, how does that affect my current video setup (geoforce2 gts agp card)? In other words, how do I set this up? Thanks.
