Any Software is there to Run System Defragment

I am looking for a freeware Disk defragement software. Windows use it very slow.

The only partitioning program I have found so far that totally defragments E-VERY-THING on the chosen partitions...
Is the partitioning feature included within the "Paragon Hard Disk Manager".
I was able to get a FREE copy of the "8.5 SE" version of this.
You might be able to such a a download out there on the web if you search for it.

Given that it does such a good job of defragmenting, it's a pity that it doesn't display the results of the defrag. :(

The Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2008 Suite (http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2201414/paragon-hard-disk-manager-suite) does display the results.

Or else you could use O&O Defrag 2000 Freeware Edition 3.5.562 (http://www.majorgeeks.com/O&O_Defrag_2000_Freeware_Edition_d4545.html) to display the result.

I use a FREE version that was given away by a magazine of Ashampoo Magical Defrag (http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/php/product.php?idstring=0044&session_langid=2) to work in the background to keep fragmentation from increasing [defrags when needed and the no-one is active on the PC].

This (http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html?Str=download#) Defraging tool is decent. I haven't yet been able to try it on vista :'( due to my own personal computer problems... but in XP it does a phenomenal job.

Windows use it very slow.
Remember that the time taken to defragment any volume will depend on how long it was since it was last defragmented, regardless of what is doing it.

Also remember Windows defragmentation will go faster in Safe mode since fewer programs will try to write to the drive and cause restarts.

The NT OSes might be slowed down a bit and not defrag as completely but don't actually repeatedly go back to square one when "interrupted", as was the case with the DOS based versions, when a complete defrag could sometimes be impossible in normal mode.

With Paragon Hard Disk Manager:

1. You begin by running the program within Windows.

2. Choose the tasks to be completed.
e.g. Defragment a chosen set of partitions.
To do this you right-click on each partition in turn and choose "Defragment Partition".

3. Click the green tick mark for "Apply".

4. The program tells you it needs to restart, and you OK that.

5. It restarts into DOS mode, completes all the tasks, boots back into Windows with Paragon Disk Manager running once again.
It does things I've never seen other defrag programs do.
e.g. Checks the file system for errors.
Then defrags the FAT table, both in RAM and on the HDD.
Allows you to specify whether the folders should be located at the start or end of the partition; whether large files should be ordered ascending or descending; whether the paging file should be defragged or not.
