AVG versus Vista Home Media Edition

I removed Norton from a Compaq of a friend and installed AVG. Windows Defender can be turned on, but AVG keeps getting turned off. The AVG icon was lit and updated properly etc., but as soon as I launched the AOL browser the security issues pop-up appeared and said there was no Anti-Virus enabled.

Anybody had similar problems??

Wait for Classic or Budfred's advice but my first thought is to format if it had both Norton and AOL on it. Both programs are notoriously hard to fully remove and can cause significant problems.
