I have a wired router currently set up and I really don't want to buy a wireless router to play my xbox 360 wirelessly.. is there an adapter I can plug directly into the router that will allow it to connect to my xbox via wirelessly??
or is the adapter roughly same price as a wireless router? I dont want anything cheap I dont need to sacrafice speed for comfort!

If speed is important then plug in. Wired will beat wireless any day for speed and reliability ;)

You need either a wireless router or a wireless access point (AP). AP's tend to cost more than routers, so you might as well just get a new wireless router if you really want to go wireless.

the only wireless routers i use are Linksys, and generally, as in my case, they'll last up to about 2 years before needing to be replaced. they're pretty solid, reliable routers, atleast in my opinion, that is.

This is the model (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190) I have and would recommend to just about anyone. Unless you wanted to go with Draft N, but you don't need that for the Xbox.

You can also get two ethernet Wall Plugs (http://www.netgear.co.uk/wallplugged_ethernet_adapter_hdx101.php) and use the house's electricity supply to become the bridge from the box to the current router.

Since my wife insists I don't drill any holes in my house I have been looking into a pair of those myself to get connectivity from the second floor to my basement.
What I have been doing is running about 60' of cable through the house when I need to work in the basement. I would generally leave the cable there for about a week hoping she would get tired of it and relent but it has never worked. :p

The wall plugs are commonly used on continental Europe for some reason. I recently got a pair for a client who had spent time in Holland and specifically wanted them. He is a happy bunny now.
