I searched....

My computer is as follows:

MB = KT3 Ultra2-C (Via KT333 Chipset)
Processor = AMD XP2000
RAM = 2 gig ddr
Operating System = Windows XP
Curent video card = Sapphire Radeon 9000 Atlantis Pro 64 MB

I recently reinstalled my op system and did all the upgrades including DirectX 9. I think that is when I had a reduction in video frame rate on Live For Speed and RFactor but it wasn't stellar to begin with.

I downloaded a driver updater that told me I was running out of date versions of the video driver but I couldnt find the latest drivers from ATI's website. Could be the driver and the Bios of the video card is out of date??

1. I would like help in finding the latest driver for my video card to see if that helps (an affordable fix).
2. If not, I want to buy a new video card that is better than the one I have that is compatible with the AGP 2.0 slot. I read on here in my search that any 4X/8X card would be. I was recommended by a friend to get the x1650 card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102073
3. Should I reinstall Windows XP and just stick with DirectX 8?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

A quick search on the AMD website and I found the catalyst suite for your card. Look here (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.html) for the main page and download from there.

Those should work.

Are you using XP Home or Professional?

Azzey - thaks for your very quick response. I have that catalyst suite and the 2 different driver search tools I tried told me it is out of date. Supposedly there is a driver version 8.something but I cant locate it anywhere. I am using XP Home.

No kidding it's out of date...that card was out of date many years ago.

Yes, there are newer drivers, but none that will work with that card. All the card manufacturers drop support for older cards as time goes on and well, that card was dropped after the last published version.

Those driver 'updaters' don't do anything you can't do manually...and usually can do better that way.
