Hello. I have an odd problem. I didn't want to tag onto anothers post which was similar.
I have a tower that recently lost access to the sound cards I guess you could say. This is my dj computer, 1 night through half a show, the sound just stopped. I went ahead & rebooted, started my dj program, sound came out as normal. Didn't think anything more of it. When I went to start my recording program, hit record, it came back & told me my sound devices were not found. So I went into options of that program to pick which card I was going to use, nothing was listed. Took them out & rebooted, letting the computer recycle, then put them back in, rebooted letting the computer find the new hardware & reinstalled.
So I went into control panel/sounds & again, nothing was listed for sound cards. Went into system/hardware devices & both sound cards are listed there - checked the properties & both stated they are installed & working properly.
The cards involved are a Soundblaster X-Fi & an older Live - both standard PCI. I know they both work as I tried them in different computers. Downloaded all updates & current drivers available. Disabled on-board sound device through the BIOS. It still does not reconize these 2 cards in the Sounds (via control panel) - no setting playback/recording or even volume for any of them. The only thing that DOES work is my dj program - which is weird, absolutely nothing else - even the Creative programs like Sound Recorder can't find any sound devices. I even uninstalled the dj & recording programs and went through most of the processes above again, still to no avail.
Not sure what to try next? Anyone please????
