View Full Version : Saving tabs when closing Firefox.

I used to be able to save tabs whenever I clicked the X to close Firefox.
FF would ask if I wanted to "Save And Quit", so that next time I run FF, the last collection of tabs would be re-loaded.

Now it won't do that for me anymore - all I get is a message asking if I want to close all the tabs - I don't get the option to SAVE AND QUIT anymore.
As I often have 10 or more tabs open at any one time in FF, it's a BIG help, if I can save-and-exit, over just closing all the tabs, then trying to remember where I was next time I start FF.

Firefox version 3.0.4

Can anyone help?

There used to be an add-on named Session Saver that added that functionality. Sometime late in the 2.x series it was no longer developed...

But, Session Manager has taken up the slack. I like it much better than FF's default session manager, which pretty much just gives you some 'crash' recovery without serious tweaking and even then very few options. It can be found through the add-on manager.

My guess is that you accidentally ticked the "don't ask me next time" box.

Type about:config in the address bar. Scroll down to browser.tabs.warnOnClose. Double click it to change it from false to true.

Hope that helps. :)

@ mjc: Thanks - Looked, but could not find it, but I found another one called TabSaver which seems to do the job - thanks for the pointer! :)

@ jlreich: Setting is already true, but thanks for the hint! :)

mjc or other moderator - please delete post #4 - for some reason, it was posted, when I only wanted #5 to show up...

Thanks - not sure how it got posted - I think it was cos I install TabSaver, restarted FF, then tried to finish the post. When I did that, TWO posts appeared: the original one you deleted for me, and the one I actually wanted.
