Which memory slot?

On a MBd with two memory slots, would it matter into which slot a single RAM board were placed?

On my MS-7312 MBd, the RAM board is not read in the front slot; only in the rear slot. Does this mean there is a primary slot and a secondary slot, OR does it mean that one of the slots is bad?

Maybe...some boards do read the RAM in a particular order.

The only way to know for sure is get an additional stick and see if the board recognizes both at the same time.
