I've always been curious as to why DVD players, which now can play lots of different formats including WMV, MP3, AVI and DivX, why they still can't play MOV files.
These are very common on many digital cameras as movie-files from said cameras. I think that modern digital cameras might use AVI now, but my older Kodak camera records movies as MOV files.
With so many people owning digital cameras, and many of these record movies, and many of these record MOV files, it would be so useful if said MOV files could be played back on DVD players, but I have yet to fine ONE SINGLE PLAYER which can play MOV files - at least here in NZ.
Anyone know why?
Personally, I think it is because Apple won't license the format to the DVD player manufacturers - most likely because Apple are being too greedy and asking too much for any license, if they offer a license at all...
