So I have been asking questions on here, and doing research for a while, and I think I have finally figured out everything I want (I already have a mouse and keyboard). I am kind of a perfectionist when it comes to things, so I wanted to make sure I had exactly everything I wanted before setting out on my building journey.

Case: Antec 900

CPU: Intel E8400

GPU: ATI 4870

PSU: Corsair 750w

Ram: 4gb (2x2) G. Skill

OS: Vista 64-bit Home Premium
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116488

and some Arctic 5

My only question is the ram. I am between the two up there, but am not sure if the 1066 is worth the extra money. I plan on experimenting with overclocking, and the 800 seems to run cooler, but don't really know which would be better to go with, or if you think a different kind all together would be better? They end up being the same price after the MiR, but we all know how long those take to come in the mail. How much of a performance boost would I see from the 800 to the 1066?

If anyone has any input I would appreciate it, but I'm not looking to spend anymore money really, so try to keep alternatives to similar prices. Thanks a lot everyone.

I think that build will be ok i do like the 1066Mhz RAM there is not much price difference anymore and i see you have bought an aftermarket CPU cooler so im guessing you will be OC'ing and 1066Mhz will give you that extra edge and without worrying about "will my RAM OC ok"

also maybe thing about this MOBO

1066 it is, because I do plan on overclocking. I'm open to the GB board, the ASUS comes in a bundle with the E8400, so it's $30 cheaper overall. What would be the reason for choosing the GB over the ASUS? Thanks for the help :)

read post 11, 12 and 13 :D

but $30 its give and take. I would get the gigabyte but... in the end its your money so its down to you ;)

Haha, I didn't realize it was the same board. Thanks.

Yeah, after reading reviews on Newegg, I am pretty sure I'm going to go with the GB. I just wish it had Crossfire capability :/

It does have CrossFireX capability. One PCIe x16 slot, one PCIe x8 slot. Or rather, the second vid card slot is PCIe x16 physical with x8 electrical. So you can do CrossFireX, but at x16/x8.

You want more? x16/x16? That is easily done.

Oh, ok. I just knew that the Asus said it had Crossfire, and the GB didn't mention it. I am definitely going with the GB in that case. By x16/x16 is easy to do, do you mean you can OC the port to 16x? Or would I just need to run it at 8x?

in crossfire mode it will automatically run at x8, x8 but with PCI-e 2.0 its will be more than enough ;)

Ok great, thanks for all the help guys. Is there anything else I need or should replace instead of one of my selections?

if your gonna get the antec 900 get a modular power supply, there is no room in that case for all the cables that a 750w power supply has, or get a biggger case, the NZXT Tempest, its cheap and has way too many fans

The 750w Corsair is much more dependable.

Avoid Modular as much as possible, it's ok for a microATX, but mid and up use non-modular, the more breaks in a circuit length there are, the more likely it is to fail, develop a bad contact or be damaged during installation. Not to mention that those amps you need are lost during the new connection of cabling to the PSU, making it highly probable that issues will arise.

I have a Antec 900,and there is plenty of room for cable management.I did alot of research on wire management for this case. The newer version has holes to manage your wires. My case is 6 months old,and it is the upgraded version.Do a google search for wire management for the Antec 900.I love this case.
