I need some input. I'm running xp. I have 2 issues that may or may not be related. 1. I'm unable to udate any of microsoft products. From the selections in programs or from their website. When tried I am directed to MSN website or get the error message that the website isn't available. 2. Norton has found that the system has "Backdoor.Tidserv!inf". I've tried scanning with system restore on and off. I've also tried scanning in safe mode. I am unable to elimate this virus off of the system.

Any recommendations on how to remedy both situations?

Probably it is infected, so you need some help.

Try downloading HijackThis and make a log, then post it:

Moving this to Applications & Security forum where they read those logs.
