Microsoft ran a malicious software removal tool this last Patch Tuesday, removing almost a million copies of malware masquerading as security software:

And you wondered why Classicsoftware was busy reviewing HJT logs here.

I hope they started to learn more.

I wonder how many Linux distros are in need of disinfection?
N[ot-so-much-as-]ONE? :D
I'm presently working here in Puppy Linux, and its kinda nice to feel that even though the only protective program I have running here is a [probably redundant] firewall, this has about as much chance of becoming infected as I do of winning the lottery [and I don't buy any lottery tickets!], or being struck by an Asteroid. :D
It is a myth that Linux can't be infested...but it is much harder to do, on a properly configured system and most of the exploits that allow Windows to be so easily infested are 'plugged' by default on a Linux box. So yeah, there are a few Linux machines running around out there (there is a theory that some of the infested Linux machines were done on purpose, because they are servers in known 'malware' friendly IP blocks...)

"So yeah, there are a few Linux machines running around out there"
Did you mean to say:
"So yeah, there are a few INFECTED Linux machines running around out there"?
I've seen it said out there that there are people who know people who CLAIM to have been infected...
But no-one who actually steps forth and says personally that their machine has been, or is, infected.
Like I said, most of them are running in IP blocks that are known 'malware friendly' and they are servers...
