Simple Problem - Got a failing Hard disk that I want to completely copy... installed new drive as D: and am unable to copy c to d... will not allow me to copy long file names without truncating? Any ideas?

you second drive, it is fat32 or just plain fat? The files you are copying, will it read the files? How big are these hard drives? and, you are booting to the C drive, the old drive first, then accessing the d: drive? You might try instaling winders on d: drive first, and then copy files from old drive onto it (this of course means you flip flop the drive letters too).

To do a proper copy you need to use a low-level copy program like Symantec's Ghost or Powerquest's Partition Magic / Drive Copy / Drive Image.
Some new hard drives come with stripped-down versions of these utils as well.

My best advice would be to set up the new drive as Master, and the old one as slave, and use the new drive's installation software, usually it will ask if you want to transfer the data from the old one to the new drive. If the old one is on its last legs, you're going to need the new one as C drive anyway.
