I have a Mac related question about my Mac notebook. I only posted here because the people I've ever talked to at Mac forums are usually just plain stupid when I ask them questions. I don't even know if I'm allowed to post such Mac questions on here. I know this is a PC discussion forum, but can someone still help me anyways? If so, just tell me where to post the question.

Okay, here's the question. My Mac did not come with any install cd and I've tried googling this problem and the answers always lead to using the install cd. I don 't have any of the garageband instruments or loops. When I click on a greyed out instrument/loop, it brings me to the option where i can download the update or update from the dvd. I choose "Download Now" and it doesn't give me the GarageBand update. How can I get all the loops and instruments? I know that I can visit various sites and download different things, but I want the whole 1.2G deal from Apple. Someone mentioned to me something about connecting to Apple's servers and downloading them that way. What can I do? Again, I need a solution that doesn't involve the installation cds.

So far all I can say is that the direct download link works for me. Version 4.1.2 from http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=17809&cat=59&platform=osx&method=sa/GarageBand_412.dmg but it may not be what you want since its only 19.1MB.
The download page I took it from is at: http://support.apple.com/downloads/GarageBand_4_1_2 but the page does seem very slow to load.
Must look further afield I guess. Do you have the link that has been problematic for you?

Well, I already have 4.1.2. All I need is the instruments and loops. For some reason, Apple thought it would be a good idea to not include the 1.2G worth of **** because it took up "too much space". come on now...
Anyways, I never had a link in the first place. So there is no problematic link. I even tried to use the update inside of Garageband, and it doesn't show the update. But wait! Another question. Do you know if the instruments and loops from Logic will work in Garageband? I mean, as long as it has the same file format, then chances are it should work, right?
Instrument and loop files are pretty much like mp3s, sounds in digital format. So, you should be able to swap them from one app to another, as long as they are in a file format that both programs understand.
