I've got the Intel DP35DP motherboard with a Intel Quad-Core Processor. I'm gonna give Windows XP 64 bit a try. I have always used Crucial RAM with really good results. Never a problem with that.

I guess I can put in PC2-5300 or PC2-6400. It's DDR2. The PC2-5300 has a CL of 5. The PC2-6400 has a CL of 6. I think the CL number refers to the latency of the RAM. It's my understanding that a lower number is slightly faster.

But I think that PC2-6400 runs at a faster speed? So which one should I pick up? I will not be overclocking or any of that business. I'm just gonna stick the stuff in and be done with it.

I will not be gaming either. Mostly recording, word processing, tiny bit of photo-editing and web surfing.

I'm kinda guessing that in the end the two are probably pretty close in what the end user experience will give you.

No no, you need 4-4-4-12 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034) on DDR2-800! It's so cheap now, why wouldn't you want it? :D
