The box that keeps on popping up reads Winweb Security Firewall Alert -- Winweb Security Firewall has blocked a program from accessing the Internet. Firefox is infected with worm Llas.Blaster.Keyloger. This worm is trying to send your credit card details using Firefox to connect to remote host. Help needed PLEASE!
Disconnect from the internet...pull the network cable from the machine.
Read this thread...
http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60009
And post the log. You will need to move the program over to the infected machine, if have disconnected.

OK, I will get off of the Internet, pull the ac cord from the wall, and if I do this how can I create and post a hijack log? Also, is there anyway that I can prevent this box which I refer to above from appearing on my screen every couple of minutes? Thanks so much for your help. I am going to disconnect now, but I will have to get on the internet again to read your reply and also to do the hijack log. Thanks again.

Hi: I tried to follow the instructions on How to create and post a Hijackthis Log, and I got as far as the Startup tab and unfortunately I wasn't given the option of clicking on enabling all -- it only gave me the option on clicking on disabling all, so I do not know how to proceed at this point.:(

PLEASE, is there anyone who can help me out. This box that I have referred to above keeps on appearing on my computer screen and I don't know how to stop it. Also, I was not able to click on enabling all in the startup tab as suggested, I was only given the option of disabling. I really could use some of the expert help which the PC Discussion Forum provides.

Just run the hijackthis log and don't worry about MSCONFIG now. This is a scam to trick you into sending them money....

Thanks for your reply. Ok, I will try and run the Hijack log without clicking enabling all on Startup tab. Thanks again.

How to run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) or Here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html)
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. <-Skip this step for now. Run it without the update. You will probably need to run a second time, at which time you can do the update check.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.[/QUOTE]
After the scan is finished post the log here.

To: MJC-
Thank you so much for all of your help. I am so fortunate to have such a wondeful and helpful site to come to when I am in trouble with my computer. Thanks again so very much.:)

We sometimes tag team on these things...
There are a couple of other questions I have.
Are you currently running anything by Symantec? AV? Firewall? etc?
If you uninstalled Norton AV or something, you've got an updater for it still running that is doing nothing except consuming resources.
If you didn't uninstall/disable a Symantec AV, then you are running three AVx...which is also very detrimental to performance. Pick one...probably Avira, since it seems to be the most 'complete' right now and completely disable/uninstall the others.
Also, you need the most recent Java update as the version you are running is very out-dated. See this thread...

Thank you for your post. I am not computer savy at all and I had no idea I was running so many programs.
If you could please give me easy step by step instructions on what to remove, and also how to remove, and which Java update to download, I would be very appreciative. To the best of my knowledge, I have Mozilla Firefox and AT&T Yahoo as my ISP, and I believe I am running Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search and Avira Free Anti-Virus. I did go to add and remove programs and I removed Java 3 update and Java 5 update and I have Java 7 update remaining.
Also, the following programs are listed as being on my desktop...
Adobe Air

As to the programs on your Desktop...they don't really matter so much, as they are just icons/shortcuts to the programs themselves and aren't running.
In Add/Remove look for AVG and Symantec entries and uninstall them. Blaster, Spybot and Avira will all 'play nice' together, so don't worry about them, except to make sure that they stay up to date. If you can't find uninstallers for the others, we'll have to do it the manual way...

It won't allow me to download first Java item on list with downloading either optional Windows Kernel or Windows Online -- which optional item should I download? Thanks again.

I went to add and remove programs and I'm sorry but I couldn't find AVG or Symantec.
OK...then run HijackThis again and check off the boxes next to these items...
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AVG7_Run] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe /RUNONCE
O23 - Service: Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe
O23 - Service: LiveUpdate - Symantec Corporation - C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\LIVEUP~1\LUCOMS~1.EXE
Then, before clicking the fix button, under Administrative Tools, Services, stop the Symantec/LiveUpdate ones.
Then click "Fix" in HJT.
Reboot.
Then find the folders C:\Program Files\Symantec...look for an uninstaller in that folder (hopefully there will be one). Run it if found. Do the same for the C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\ folder (PROGRA~1 is the Program Files folder).

I found the three items and checked them in 'Hijack this' however then I went to the Control Panel and found Symantec Live Update and when I entered Symantec Live Update, it asks the question 'How do you want to use Live Update' and there are two options: Interactive Mode -- this box is checkedd and Express Mode. However, I do not know how to stop Live Update like you asked me to do. Also, since I didn't know how to stop Live update I did not click 'fix' in HJT. I hate to be a bother, but I really need easy step by step instructions as I am not very much of a whiz on the computer. Thanks for your patience and look forward hearing from you.
Also, as I stated previously it will not allow me to download 1st Java item on the list which you asked me to do without clicking on an optional download of either Windows Kernel or Windows online -- so nothing has been done in this regard either.
I'm not on a Windows machine at the moment, so I won't be able to give you any insight on the Java download.
The Live Update option, Interactive, should allow you, somewhere, to shut the blasted thing off...this is one of the reasons I positively loathe Symantec products...they make it so difficult to get rid of them. It probably came with your computer and the subscription ran out a long time ago, but it is still running and I'm guessing popping up a warning about an expired subscription, every so often.
Go to the run box, type in services.msc and then look for the LiveUpdate on the list. Set it to Disabled and reboot...then use HJT to remove the startup entry.

I went to run and typed in services.msc and unfortunately Symantec Live Update was not found. As far as the Java download, I will wait to hear back from you. Also, should I go ahead into HJT and check off the boxes of the three items you mentioned previously and then click fix, or should I wait until we get the Java download matter straightened out? Thanks so very much for all of your kind help and look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi MJC:
Went to Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs this morning and I found Symantec Live Update (7.4mb Last used 5-25-05/used rarely) and should I click on the change/remove option? I did so, but did not proceed because I received a message stating "We have determined that you still have some Symantec Applications registered with Live Update - You should not remove Live Update unless all Symantec Applications have been uninstalled first - Do you want to proceed"?
I will wait till I hear back before changing anything on my desktop -- thanks so much for your help.
Last used...'05, yeah, the subscription has run out and anything/everything Symantec that is on there is pretty much just taking up space. Uninstall any/all Symantec items found.

Hi MJC-
I went to Add Remove Programs and I removed Symantec Live Update and then I went back to HJT to click on the three items which you had mentioned previously and the only one of the three that was still there was the very first item 04-HKCU Run AVG Grisoft so I pressed the FIX button. I will wait to hear from you further with respects to the previously referenced Java matter.

Thank you so much Classic Software. The problem I seem to be presently having is that my system is very slow. Also, with all of the comings and goings that have been going on recently, I do not believe that I currently have an AntiVirus Program covering my system, and maybe you can help me. I do believe that I have Spybot and Spyware Blaster. Also, I am not sure if there are some programs that may be partially installed or perhaps some programs may be installed more than once -- hopefully my hijack log will provide answers. Your help is so greatly appreciated, and I do thank you.
Here is the Hijack Log (there were 4 versions of Hijack this to download and I believe I have downloaded the latest version 2.0.2)

Thank you Classic Software. I went to Control Panel/Add remove programs and I removed Adobe Reader 9. I also have Adobe Air, Adobe Flash Player 10 Plug In, Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X, & Adobe Shockwave Player - but I did not remove these as I was not sure whether you wanted me to do so or not. I do not have Sun Java listed, nor do I have Yahoo Tool Bar listed. I do have AT&T Yahoo Applications listed but did not remove because I wanted to advise you that SBC Yahoo is my Internet Provider and I receive email thru Yahoo. I do have the 4 cd disks which came with my Acer Power FE Desktop at time of purchase from Tiger Direct in 2006 but do not know how to use same (Disk 1 (Bootable), Disk 2 (XP Pro SP2 Software Recovery CD), and same for Disk 3 & 4. Thanks again.
Here is fresh Hijack log...

You should have entries for Java in your Add/Remove Programs. It might be under J for Java instead of S for Sun Java.

Thank you - I found Java (TM) 6 Update 11 in Add/Remove Programs and removed.

First disable Tea-Timer:
Turn off TeaTimer to remove those entries. Open Spybot S&D in advanced mode, click Tools > Resident, and remove the check from "Resident Tea-Timer". Reboot after unchecking the entry.
Then After re-booting open hijackthis and place a check next to:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

O23 - Service: Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus Guard (AntiVirService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avguard.exe (file missing)
Close all open program and browser windows except for Hijackthis and click fix checked.
Re-boot, post a fresh log & tell me how the system is running.

Hi Classic, I opened Spybot S&D and in the advanced mode, I clicked tools, resident and there was not a check next to Tea Timer. There was only a check next to Resident SD Helper (IE Bad Dowload Blocker) Active, and so I exited Spybot.

Then let's uninstall spybot and then remove the items with Hijackthis that I noted earlier.
Post a fresh log
& tell me how the system is running....

Hi Classic, Went to Control Panel and removed SpyBot. Rebooted, opened 'hijack this' and placed check mark next to following six items..
04 - HKLM\Run: (Real Tray ..........SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER
04 - HKCU\Run: (MSMSGS background
04 - Startup: .. \Powerreg Scheduler V3.exe
04 - HKCU..\Run: (Avg7 Run Grisoft\AVG7/ RUNONCE
08 - Extra context menu item: Add to Google Photos Screensaver (file miss)
023 - Service: Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus Guar
I clicked "fix checked" (permanently delete and/or repair selected items) and clicked OK. System seems to run about the same. What follows is a fresh log... Do I still have anti-virus program to protect my system? As far as I know, now I think I only have Spyware Blaster on my desktop. Thank so much.

Hi Classic -- I don't know anything about Asian Characters and never heard of them and I truly don't know how I acquired them. Anything you see like that, I would appreciate your helping me get rid of. Thanks so much.

Hi Classic, for some reason I didn't receive email notification of your last post. I did put a check next to the ten items you suggested and pressed "fix checked". Here is new log. System seems slightly faster. Thanks.

Downloaded Avira, and when I attempted to install, I received the following message: "Setup has detected an already installed version of Avira-Free Anti Virus - please uninstall this version before starting setup again."
I went to Control Panel in an attempt to uninstall previous Avira but it was not shown or listed.

Hi, I clicked on the link you provided and there were several download options and I clicked on "download here" (AntiVir Tool Version 3.0.1.16 5-28-08). Finished download and after the download was complete, I selected "run" and results were "no Malware found on hard drive" then I turned computer off and then on again, and I attempted to reinstall Avira and received the following message "Setup has detected an already installed version of Avira Anti-Vir Personal Free AntiVir. Please uninstall this version before starting setup again."

Classic, was I supposed to check something when I ran the Avira REgistry Cleaner because it gave me the following options and I didn't check any boxes. The options available were "Select all, "Configuration", "Clear list" and "Delete". I just exited without checking any boxes.

I went back to Avira Registry Cleaner and clicked "select all & delete". Then I reinstalled Avira Free Anti Virus and kept getting a message that "installation failed" -- I continued on and kept on clicking OK and then installation completed. Then, I turned off the desktop and tried to get back on and couldn't get back on and had the egg timer for awhile. Then I turned off the system again, and turned back on and a different color screen appeared and it said something about my disk needed to be checked for consistency. In any event, I am back on now and it appears Avira Free Anti Virus was removed and reinstalled.

System is running OK, a bit slow, but maybe that is just my ISP (Yahoo SBC). Do I need to reinstall SD Spy Bot, as I think we removed it? Anything that shows in my new log that you think should not be there, please let me know, for instance Asian characters, or whatever. I so appreciate your kind help and assistance very much. Hi Classic, I just turned my desktop on and an Avira Window appeared, and then I clicked on to Mozilla Firefox to get onto the Internet, and the egg-timer appeared again. Tried to log off, but the screen seemed locked. Then I pressed control/alt/delete and I received the following message "running too many programs may slow down your computer - try logging some users off". I am the only user.

How is the system running aside from online? Do programs load as quickly as they used to? Programs like Word, or any other program you use...

Microsoft Word loads quickly, but when using the Internet, kind of seems about the same -- but who knows maybe the cause is is my ISP, SBC Yahoo. Should I put SpyBot back on my desktop? I have a question for you -- if I were to use the CD disks which came with my Acer Desktop at time of purchase (I do not know how to do this) would there be any advantages to restoring the system to the way it was at the time it was new, also if I were to do this, would I lose all of my emails, and word documents? I have many photos on my computer which I am thinking maybe I should remove as maybe this would speed my desktop up. Again, if you see anything which looks wierd on the Hijack log, please let me know how to delete. Thanks again for all of your patience and help.
