I need some help! I just installed a video card and following directions like a good boy, I found that I had no video card installed before! Apparently I had some sort of pre-installed video device. Windows (98) does detect the new card, however if I plug my monitor into the new card there is nothing but black. I can still work off of the old device, whatever that may be. Any thoughts?

Your system has to have a video card of some type, or it gets no picture period.
From what you posted I'd say you have an integrated motherboard, which means the video card is built into the motherboard. You'll need to look in the motherboard manual and find out if it has a jumper setting to disable the onboard video before the new card will work.
Once you find it, reset the jumper according to the instructions in the motherboard manual, and your new card should work fine.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
