New at computer. Have HP 8600 P-3 128 MG RAM 30 GIG hard drive Can you walk me through the steps. How can I record a song off a CD to my hard drive, then play it back on my home page to be played just once when this page is viewed. I have web pages and a server but haven't got them to the server yet. Would really appreciate your help. Jim

You need to use a program to digitally extract the music from the CD; look at any Windows software repository. Also assumes your CD drive will do this. You then need to convert the files to MP3 format (to save space).
Then you need to embed them in the web page and post them on your server, the company hosting your site should be able to help you with this.
Incidentally, I've never met anyone who didn't hate having music start playing when they went to a web site, so keep that in mind...

Thanks for the info ixl, I wasn't sure how to explain it.

I especially hate it when they don't post a button to turn the usually crappy music off.

Plus it makes the webpage load very slowly. The music file is usually the largest file on the site to load, and sometimes it even loads before half the graphics, so you have to sit there and wait 2 minutes for the music to load before you can see the info you came for...as opposed to 30 seconds or so for a large page on my already slow connection that's bogged down more by Juno's ad banner and background graphics...sure wish I could afford $20 a month, you couldn't run fast enough to give me Juno again...

Then again, I've seen a couple of pages that were worth the wait, and had a really cool song...

Thanks ixl and Paleo Pete for your expert advise.I agree, don't want to force song on anyone. I think I know how to install a console. So anyone can listen if they want, or not. Thanks again to both of you, I really appreciate it. Jim
