I see they are now up to version 3 of Open Office.
Looks good.
:)
Anyone using version 3.0.0?
Any problems to report to other members here?

It requires you to be running Win2K SP2 or later.
It has filters that support Office 2007 and I have had three converts to it in the past week for kids at a college where they have 2007 powerpoint and word docs at college but would have to purchase 2007 to edit them at home.
For those wanting OO 2.x they have just released an upgrade at version 2.4.2

Installed it on my daughters system last night. I didn't ask her about it but I do know she got her report done.

I already had Open Office PORTABLE version 3 Beta 2 (http://portableapps.com/node/16395).
I take it the above is the non-portable version?

I just installed it a couple of days ago and am very pleased with it. I'm using it now exclusively in place of Office 97 that I was using. With it I can save my spread sheets in either the Microsoft format or Open Office format. The same thing with the word processor. Open office will open a Microsoft spread sheet or Microsoft word document. But Microsoft won't open a document made by Open Office. I'm pretty sure I'm correct on that last statement but I could be wrong. Never-the-less, I like it very much.

Frank you can "save as" and save it in the appropriate MS file extension and MS Office should be able to use it. There have in the past been some formatting issues when doing this but I suspect they are less and less these days.
