Simple probably. Running NT. Downloaded a nice 'MATRIX' screensaver, which turns out to be a .gif file. How do I add a 3rd party screensaver to the system?

Go to Start\Find and type in
*.scr
Drop the new screensaver in the folder it comes up with, and it should then appear in the list when you go to your screensaver options.
This might be totally wrong, but I think it will work. It works on win 95/98 machines anyway...
One thing, if the file's extension is not scr it probably won't see it as a screensaver. So you might be out of luck...
A fix for this would be to look into one of the applications you can download that allow you to create screensavers from your picture files. Make sure it's NT compatible, of course.
Or you might try copying the file and renaming the copy <filename>.scr and see if that works, but I'm not sure. Just make sure you know exactly what and where it is, before experimenting.
Try a search on the net for a site that can describe the procedure for making your own screensavers, I know they're out there, but might take some digging to find...

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
