Not sure if this is the correct area to post?
Anyone here using Comcast and the Smartzone Communications Center? And are you having problems with email being slow, non-responsive, double emails?
If so, have you any resolutions with the issues?

As info, I recently created 2 new folders in smartzone. I dragged and down existing important email from inbox to new folders and verified they were in new folders. Two days later I tried to access new folders and they were gone. I called COMCAST and they claim they don't backup their email - email documents are un-recoverable. They don't backup user emails and smartzone user created folders are not permanent. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I'm going back to hotmail.

On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Select Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Select POP3, and then click Next.
Under User Information, do the following:
In the Your Name box, type your full name the way you want it to appear to other people.
In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail user name followed by @comcast.net.
Under Server Information, do the following:
In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type mail.comcast.net.
In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.comcast.net.
Under Logon Information, do the following:
In the User Name box, type your user name provided by Comcast.
In the Password box, type your password.
Select the Remember password check box.
Note You have the option to have Outlook remember your password by typing it in the Password box and selecting the Remember password check box. Having Outlook remember your password means that you won't have to type your password each time you access the account; however, it also means that the account is vulnerable to anyone who has access to your computer. Use strong passwords that combine upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh!et5. Weak password: House27. Use a strong password that you can remember so that you don't have to write it down.
To verify that your account is working, click Test Account Settings. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be prompted to supply or correct it. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
Click More Settings.
On the General tab, under Mail Account, type Comcast.
Note If you are attempting to send and receive Comcast e-mail messages from a location where you are not directly connected to Comcast, such as at work or when travelling, see the Notes section for additional steps.
Click OK, and then click Next.
Click Finish.
Notes
Do not select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box.
Unless specified by Comcast, all server and address entries are typed in lowercase letters.
To send and receive e-mail messages with your Comcast account when you are not directly connected to the Comcast service, such as at work or when travelling, you must use the following:
After step 9 above, click the Outgoing Server tab, and then select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Continue with step 10 above.
I leave a copy on the server in case something happens

Noticed that this thread started in December '08. Is it still active?
Are there others out there who are as disenchanted with Comcast's Smartzone as i am?
But for the fact that we are tied into one of Comcast's bundles, i would prefer not to use Comcast's e-mail at all---
The sheer volume of advertising and pop-ups is enough to drive me bananas (that is, more bananas than i already am).
Do we really need to be reminded every 15 to 30 seconds with a pop-up message that our e-mail Draft in progress has been automatically saved?
Are you able to continue to compose your e-mail while that pop-up message is displaying?
Do you experience the same delay in cumbersome processing (---and i have a fairly new computer) when attempting to cut and paste material from an incoming message to an outgoing message?
Are you as amazed as i am when you go to find the attachments that were included with your outgoing messages? (...they were there when the message was sent, weren't they?)
Do we have to have that right-side panel (1/4 to 1/3 of the screen...!!!) dedicated to Comcast's advertisers, so that Comcast can derive revenue from both us and those advertisers?
My list goes on. I attribute it to the fact that Comcast does not have a problem with Smartzone..... I have the problem. (In Comcast's world, everything is hunky-dory). Would love to find out if there are others out there silently submitting (sorry, I meant subscribing, to something we did not ask for in the first place). Many thanks.

No, not active, we leave threads open for new info but if it is over a few months old the OP has likely moved on.
You do know you can connect Outlook or Thunderbird to Comcast's email to view it?

Thank you.
I was not aware of that, but will look into it. You mean the sort of thing that was discussed earlier in this thread? My initial reaction is: would it allow me to leave my Comcast e-mail addresses as they are (same user name with Comcast as the service provider)?

Yes, you can use the same email addresses, you just access them via Outlook or Thunderbird. For security reasons you should turn off preview panes however.
