Hi: I hope someone can help me. I have files I want to copy to a blank CD. My CD works fine when I put a CD in it that has something on it. I can hear the G drive wind up (that's my CD drive) and the lights come on then I get the msg "G drive not accessible" when a blank CD is in it. I've tried many brands of blank CDs so I don't think it's the brand. Like I say the CD drive works fine otherwise. Thanks for helping. S.

This is with your cd-rw right? If that's the case, there should be some sort of software for the cd-rw, ie, Adaptec E-Z CD Creator or similar..
Just walk through the software and it should guide you through it.
If your using the software, it might be your drive. You could try removing it from device manager and rebooting, allow it to redetect and test it again. Also uninstall and reinstall the cd-rw software.

Thanks for helping me. What's cd-rw? It's my cd that's built into my computer?!? Is that cd-rw? See how dumb I am? Anyway, I'm going to look for that software program on my harddrive now. Thanks again, Sally

CD-RW is CD Read-Wwrite
Which is used to imply a CD writer. A normal CD ROM is just a CD ROM...
CD-RW will write data to a blank CD. If you don't know which you have, check the documentation that came with your PC.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?

Sally - I don't want to be rude - but you really should check if you actually have a CDRW or just a plain CDROM.
If you have a CDRW you will have writing software installed on your system somewhere. The 2 major players for OEM CD writing software are Adaptec (Easy CD & Direct CD) and CeQuadrat (WinOnCD & Packet CD). Check for any of these programs.
You can also check in your device manager and see what Windows thinks rthe drive is (start - settings - control panel - system - device manager).
Failing this I have to agree with Pete - you should check the manual or if you are having problems call the manufacturers or vendors tech support.
