Well, hello again pcguide members.

I've been starting to upgrade most of my hardware.

Got a 8800 Ultra ( Which I will use if my current eVGA 8800GS Superclocked will die or something, or if I upgrade some more )

2gigs of corsair ram

Anyways, onto the actually question. Can I upgrade to this?

with my current mobo:

I've looked at some specs and I think so, I'm not that good with hardware so I need a good answer.

I've read that they updated support for Quad core processors so I'd really like to upgrade from a Pentium Dual core 820 2.8ghz to this.

-Support Quad-Core CPU (Only for P965T-A V1.0B)

from the ECS website. http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=666&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Bios&MenuID=44&LanID=0

All help is appreciated.

Yes, it should work. What are you trying to do with your pc though? Gaming? Multitasking Apps? Cause a Q6600 might not be the best upgrade for you depending on what you are trying to do.

Multitask usually. I game sometimes, depends if I want to or not.

So yes, it is for gaming too. My pentium D has been bottlenecking most games and I can't run them to their full extent so it's pissing me off( even though I can play most games on high I get about 15-30 fps except on crysis)

If this isn't the best upgrade then what is? I have not seen anything else that's better than this or cheaper. I'm guessing if I have to game I need a new mobo though. Thanks for the help so far.
