i recently downloaded vista onto my computer from XP and now the internet wont work
i downloaded the most recent drivers for my edimax EW-7128g network adapter didint work, i had a linksys wmp54g wireless adapter laying around so i tried that out got the latest drivers and still nothing, this is whats really getting me...i go to control panel>system>hardware>network adapters and it finds the adapters but it just says network controller not what it acually is then when i click on it it says that it needs the latest drivers and whatnot....even when i turn on my cpu it says hardware not properly installed

Let's go back and grab a little history...

What exactly was the problem with XP?

Did you do a 'clean' install or an 'upgrade'? A clean install is wiping out what was on the hard drive and starting over with a new install. Upgrade is installing a newer version of Windows over top of an existing one.

i did a clean install of windows vista because my xp was running extremely sluggish and that OS was running on that comp for about 3-4 yrs viruses etc just got me frustrated, thats were the clean install came from i wiped everything out of the other HDD(30gb) and the clean install wiped out the (160gb)

Ok...then you need to start with making sure all the drivers for Vista are installed...motherboard, video, etc...especially the motherboard/chipset drivers, before trying the network drivers. You also need to make sure that you have the correct versions 32 bit drivers for 32 bit Vista/64 bit for 64 bit Vista).
