Well I just found out the hard way that RR has broken all my homepage links

Doing so also broke all my posted photos and or graphics stored on my homepage folders  ( They deleted them in fact) that I use online..

Back In OCT. 08 they discontinued the former Homepage server location

In one of their normal Junk mail messages they told users to migrate to the new server.

I my past dealings with server changes ( My own and while working on others) I T Department MOVED ALL CONTENT to the new location.. Not the users!!!

I for one Don't read spam including all the self promoting BS from RR
In Fact I have them in my JUNK mail filter as SPAM to be moved to JUNK MAIL

The new options are migrate ( That RR LINK IS ALSO BROKEN) and start a new page or start an account yet a 3rd server.

After two calls and No luck dealing with support people who know little or nothing about computers and or networks

I got them to setup my Old account on the new server so I could do the Migrate to the smaller account that allows FTP use on the second server

The third server is a brain dead proprietary server that doesn't allow FTP and Only allows uploads One at a time using their transfer program..
Linking each file, One at a time to the users webpage files on his/her system

I first asked them to just create an account on server two so I could use my FTP and avoid the hassles of recreating the account from scratch
As it turns out that server ONLY allows creation by way of migrate

Now comes the brain dead way they did it
I asked for the account (old account folder)to be created with nothing in it
Just the index file to speed up the migration

So they created a TEMP account on server two.
So I can migrate that account to server two ..

Creating extra work for no reason.
if they can create a temp account they can create a full account on that server.. ( BTW.. they use Apache/2.0 ( redhat) )

Now that is done and the migrate still comes up with a server error and the migration will now take 2 or 3 weeks

Having worked with Apache myself in the past as a file server here at home
I can tell you it requires NO More work to setup the User account with all the limits as it does for any other account, temp or otherwise

I wish there was an alternative to TW and RR here
But there isn't .. They have a Monopoly on Cable service in our neighborhood
Unless I down grade to DSL :(

This is the same BS they pulled when they discontinued Usenet support and news groups support

Little or no notice and the service just stopped.
Until a person went to use it and found the service gone
Then it would show up in the FAQ's as being terminated

ALL My Links here on the board are now broken unless they were attached files and uploaded to the board

Rant done.. But still ^%$@@%* ^&$$%#

Same situation here. I almost recently fell into their two year contract but backed out at the last minute. I am so glad I did, but the last bill I got included a $6 increase, again.

I have been with RR since it was available in my area, but once FOIS becomes available I am done with Time Warner. ;)

I hate to defend Time Warner as they are clearly the worst of the Cable Providers. But you have all of your content on their servers with no local backup. They informed you in advance they were shutting down the old server and moving to a new server. You choose to ignore their e-mails and you don't even give them the cursory view they deserve buy automatically forwarding them to your junk mail.

Now, you have temerity to blame them for your failings. Wild absolutely wild. You are a true American. Narcissist to the 10th power.

I agree TW/RR is horrible with horrible support, but please accept your share of the blame for the situation you find yourself in.

Sorry But I DO HAVE ALL My files on my local system hence My Insisting on the server number 2 service that supports FTP

As for the being TOLD Via E-Mail
Sorry but wrong again
I did search ALL My Old spam from RR and ONLY One has anything in it about the home page server
and nothing about it causing the old server to be broken ( I may filter it. But very seldom ever go back and delete the garbage)

HERE (http://corp-mail.timewarnercable.com/Portal/content/corp/ret/Trracks/3000TRRacks1208.aspx?uh=-1086518398465874515&a=View&s=37755&b=34712) is the online version of the message provided in the e-mail

Please show/tell me where it has anything about ending the OLD Version of Homepage
Enjoy the Advertising

One more small detail.. The Upload speed on RR stinks.. Hence another reason why I wanted them to recreate the account with only the old index in it for the migration and save me the hassles of moving it all twice

I will not be re-editing all the old broken links

I posted what I posted because that's what you said. That being said. I don't like Time Warner. They really do stink. I have Comcast and though I have issues with the, they would not do something like that w/o warning.

You need to get your own web page on a non RR server as you will switch to FIOS when you can and have to repeat the process......

You are still responsible for getting all of the necessary info as you know or should know RR is not a reliable company.....

I have learned the hard way exactly how bad RR is

I had another talk with them this afternoon ( Just before posting my reply above)

I was unable to talk with the network tech again.
The first call person insisted on being the go between person for the ticket number(s) and I was told
I may Not get to use the FTP server

I wish we could get FIOS in here.
But it looks like it won't be happening any time soon.
AT&T owns the monopoly here and isn't going to/or doesn't intend to move up to fiber any time soon

They ( AT&T) have bet all their eggs on the 6mg dsl
allowing them to charge for each service level at a higher rate
Even higher than cable in fact for the fastest speeds
