Seeking a pro's eye on this system..

I'm currently debating on whether or not I should purchase this system. It seems to be of pretty good quality to me and at a reasonable price, but I just wanted to see what some of the experts out there think of it. I have also considered building my own system, but I have never done that before and really don't know where to begin. It seems a little overwhelming..
