Hello All,

I am not sure where to start so I will jump right in. First, my wife’s computer is running much slower than it should. Second, her computer is having random pop-ups. Third, I can not access any of these sites from her computer: AVpe AntiVir Personal Edition (free for home use), AVast, AVG, Bitdefende, Comodo, or AdAwareSE just to name a few. I was able to do an online scan with Ewido, but I was unable to download it. Most of the site I am getting an "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error message. Even in safemode I still get the same error message.

Also Norton is "not acting" right. When I start up Windows it prompts me to unstall it.
So I am at a loss on what to do. Any suggestions would be great.

Here is my HJT log:

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer before running any scans/fixes. Then...

It is best to download the tools on a known clean machine and store them on some form of portable storage, such as a USB memory stick or to burn them onto a CD (A CR-RW will work just fine). After using the portable storage media (unless it is a burned CD), you need to totally erase it...zero fill. Then transfer them to the problem machine and run them as directed. This is especially helpful in cases of browser redirection or problematic internet connectivity.

First:

How to run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) or Here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html)

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.[/QUOTE]

Second:

Now run Combofix...follow the instructions, exactly.

Please do the following:

Download this file - combofix.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop (it needs to be run from the Desktop). Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log for you.

Note:

Do not mouseclick Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause the program to stall...

Third:

IN THE ORDER LISTED BELOW

Re-boot the system
Post the Combofix Log
Post the MBAM log
Post a new HJT log
Tell us how the system is running.

Use HijackThis to fix the following...

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {45B51600-A4FF-41BD-A92D-B2ED9BE56311} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C873A8AE-A65D-4A1D-B5E0-30B35C8476D6} - (no file)

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZJxdm172QPUS

Personally, I would uninstall these and not have anything to do with them...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [My Web Search Bar Search Scope Monitor] "C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\m3SrchMn.exe" /m=2 /w

O8 - Extra context menu item: &AOL Toolbar Search - c:\program files\aol\aim toolbar 5.0\resources\en-US\local\search.html

And your Java install is in serious need of updating.

I am unable to fix this entry:
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - (no file)

Other than that evrything is working GREAT.

Thank you mjc.

You did NOT disable Tea Timer, Please do so know and then re-fix the items requested.

To Disable Tea-Timer:

Turn off TeaTimer to remove those entries. Open Spybot S&D in advanced mode, click Tools > Resident, and remove the check from "Resident Tea-Timer". Reboot after unchecking the entry.

The following also need to be removed:

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.antimalwareguard.com (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.gomyhit.com (HKLM)

Please do so and then re-boot and post a fresh log.

That one is part of MyWebSearch...if you uninstall that it should be removable.

I keep forgetting about that darn Tea-Time:mad:
Should I just turn off, and keep off, the Tea-Timer? How much protection does it provide? Apparently not much because my wife’s computer got infected.

It's my fault I guess. I should have been more diligent in protecting her computer.

I will remove the Tea-Timer and remove those items and repost tonight,

Thanks again,
Jason
Will post a new log file when I get home and after I

A few things to think about/consider...

O2 - BHO: Spybot-S&D IE Protection - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll

O23 - Service: Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service (aawservice) - Lavasoft - C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\aawservice.exe

These two items (SpyBot and AdAware...in general, not those two lines specifically) are doing essentially the same thing, at the same time. Pick one...disable/remove the other. Yes, both can reside on your machine together, just not running at the same time. So set one of them to strictly manual mode.

C:\Program Files\Net Nanny\nntray.exe These type of programs, especially when layered with a firewall can really slow things down.

O23 - Service: SiSoftware Deployment Agent Service (SandraAgentSrv) - SiSoftware - C:\Program Files\SiSoftware\SiSoftware Sandra Lite XII.SP2c\RpcAgentSrv.exe This probably doesn't need to be on all the time

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HP Software Update] C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe Nor this...really, how often do you need to check for updated printer drivers? HP used have that thing set to check every couple of hours...and at boot up, signing on to the internet and when the sun was shining, when it was raining, when it was cloudy...and still deliver notices that were several weeks out of date.

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: cuimrq.dll This one is a bit worrisome, I can't find any info on that particular file, so you may want to upload a copy of it to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ (A Google search gives one result...this thread )

Please upload the file to Jotti and let us know what they say. I am inclined to remove it any, but lets see if it gives us more information.

I am having a hard time finding that file. Any suggestions? But I am still looking.

I am also taking your other suggestions too.

Thanks,
Jason
