I have an old 486 (Win 3.1 OS) with a good working CD-ROM and sound. I'd like to know if I can get the drivers from my 486 so I can install the CD-ROM and sounds card on another system with Windows 95.

Thanks,

Tobias

Sound drivers from a 486 system will be DOS drivers; for Win95 you need Win9x drivers. Check the manufacturer's web site and download a current set.

One other note:

If this is a Matsu****a CR-562 or CR-563 drive, it's a 2X speed Panasonic interface, the CD ROM is run from a controller on the sound card, and no Win 95 drivers exist. It can't be used in a Win 95 machine, only DOS/Win 3.11.

Thought I'd add that just in case, since you referred to both CD ROM and sound card, made me think it might be the Panasonic interface. I think other Panasonic type drives might be Win 95 compatible.
www.windrivers.com (http://www.windrivers.com) and www.winfiles.com (http://www.winfiles.com) are the best places to look for drivers.

The drive is a 2X Mitsumi. Model CRMC-FXOO1D. I tried getting the drivers and loading them but with no success. All I'm trying to do is put an old PC together. Any more tips.
Thank in advance.

Drivers for that drive are available from Mitsumi (http://www.mitsumi.com/enduser/1_drivers.html) but only for DOS, not for Win95. It should work with DOS/Win3.11, but you won't be able to use it with Win95 at all. Or I don't think so anyway...
