I'm not sure how many of you here enjoy playing MMO's. I know from a personal standpoint, I find it difficult to justify paying 15 bucks a month for a video game that I've already purchased. Nevertheless, the attention these games have been getting lately has been astounding, so rather than ignore the hype, I figured I'd dive right in.

Lord of the Rings Online was fun, played it for a few months. If your a fan of the story/movies, the game is right up your alley. WoW...well...everyone knows WoW, and to be honest, maybe its because the game has gotten so big/popular, but I just wasnt diggin it.

The one game I'm waiting for, even above Starcraft 2, is KOTOR. And for you non-Star Wars geeks, it's Knights of the Old Republic. Call me crazy, but I think this game is going to rock the PC market. There is only 1 reason WoW has remained as popular as it has, and that's because of its ability to be unique. IMO, times are changing, and this will be one MMO that will rival the giant.

Oh, and for you fans that don't like to play monthly (because I include myself in that group as well), lets not forget about D3. That will be the king of all games.

I just can't see paying a subscription. I know there are a lot of people out there that do it, but I just don't understand it myself. Maybe if I were single and had time... Or maybe if it were like a $1 a month.

I am very much looking forward to Diablo 3 and was actually playing D2: LOD for about a month awhile back. And for anyone that wants to know D2 does run on Vista 64bit. :D

I'm still trying to get to D2 to install correctly under Wine. It is supposed to be able to, but I haven't had any luck with it...

For some reason, after I reformated my harddrive, I'm having troubles with D2. So, not wanting to burst too many brain-cells, I just popped in Titan Quest. I've conquered D2 far too many times anyways haha.

Fortunately for me, I only pay $12/month for WoW (World of Warcraft) because I buy in bulk! :D 6 months at a time, discount price. But more importantly, WoW is not a static game. I would also find it difficult to justify even the reduced $10/month price were it not for the fact that Blizzard is constantly changing the content. And the game mechanics. And the setting. Etc. It really is a constantly evolving world, from the setting to the story to the buttons I press while playing. Every couple of months, something drastic changes. And at least once a year, the character dynamics are tuned. And the content? Holy cow!!

You ever been in WoW? You ever tried to traverse the continents? MMORPG's have the distinct advantage of having such a volume of content that they easily make up for their price in that alone. The original size of WoW was many times that of Oblivion. And that was 2 years and 2 expansions ago! It is not uncommon to have to travel for 15 minutes to get a group together for something. So I guess it's sort of a blessing and a curse. ;)
