Be a little more specific...

What is the exact model of Compaq?

What version of Windows XP...Home or Professional? SP1? SP2? SP3?

There are about a 1000 different Presarios put out over the years...we need the number that goes along with it...should be something like Presario XXXX where the X's represent a 4 digit or greater 'number'.

Hold Ctrl+Alt and hit S. That will bring up a window that will give you your specific model. Then go here (http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-001&h_query=presario+sr1000&submit.x=6&submit.y=9) and choose your exact model and follow the prompts to get drivers. Look for chipset drivers, network drivers, video drivers, and audio drivers. If you have a card reader or anything like that you can get them as well. But I wouldn't worry about KB drivers and things like that unless you have a specific need for them.
