Sorry if this is the wrong forum but after looking at the various forums and what subject matters they deal with I figured this was the most logical.

I have a Linksys 4 Port router (non-wireless). I want to access said router. I went to command prompt and found the Gateway address. I put said address in my internet browser but then the window popped up asking for name and password.

When I set up my system three years ago I never established either name or password for this router. I was too noobish to know better. :o

What steps do I need to do to resolve this issue? Thanks.

The default logon and password are likely to be admin and admin

If that doesnt work you can reset the router to defaults (there should be a reset button on it somewhere) and check for the default logon and password in the router's manual.

Thanks, Paul, for the quick response; much appreciated. I found that Linksys sets them as blank and admin. What I want to do is block certain cites via the router rather than a software firewall. Windows blocking is way too cumbersome. I want to block in a stealth like fashion. Is this possible?

Thanks again.

A typical router has a firewall by which, if it has been enabled, you can restrict access via MAC address of the PCs on the LAN as well as via both LAN and Internet IP addresses as well as via internet Domain Names.

They may be set within certain time ranges, etc.
