I know nothing about computers, except what I have learned through trial and error (mostly error). We didn't get computers in our education system back in the 40's.
Juno had messed me up so bad, that, based on a suggestion on this board, I switched to Copper.net dialup. ( I always use dialup 'cause I'm cheap)
The internet service of Copper.net is great, but I am having the devil with the email system. I have called support 5 times in the two days I have had the service, and I am still unable to compose and send a message.
Several issues: 1) "Runtime error object expected Line 1718,1788,1858,1928,1998, etc.
Runtime error: "EON' is undefined"
Runtime error: EON Utils is null or not an object
What does all that mean?
2) Support said to load the newest Java, and I loaded Java, but maybe not the latest version?
Anyway, I can't get my mail or send it.
Any advice would be welcome. Also, I don't know what mail program I'm using, I have Outlook, and Microsoft Outlook or something, in other words to programs, and a box came up when I was playing around and said " Microsoft Outlook is not you primary mail service, do you want to make it so, and like a dummy I checked "yes", and that may have messed things up worse!

Here's some reading on the subject:

skidboots,
you can just post your ongoing problems on this issue in this thread (as i noticed you double posted on this topic)
sadly, i cannot offer any other advice as i do not use Win ME (ME NOT) and also do not use dial up
however i would advise maybe loosening up the wallet alittle and getting dsl and a PC that has Win XP on it where you can support to run Java 6.11 as that is the most recent update in the java series
if i had to guess i would say that your mail program is requiring a version of java that your PC running ME cannot support (i.e:copper mail requiring at least java 6.3 and ME only being able to suppoort 5.17 at highest)
maybe upgrading your OS to Win2k could help with this issue

Well, there you go. I didn't get a PM, BudFred.
Thanks to Whyzman, I was able to set my pop3 up to
get mail, but seem unable to send it.
Also, RonJon seems to be right about that Java latest version thing. Coppernet said I needed tha latest version to stop that runerror thingy.
I don't understand computers in general. Bought this one 6yrs ago and it was built by some computer fellow. It has way too much software, and I have about 40 programs I never use, and at least 2 to do everyjob, like mail, players, etc. I think some programs are competing with others for the same task.
Well, anyway, I'll try to phone a friend here in S.A. and see if he can talk me through cleaning up this mess.
Thanks to all who have given me help on this board.
Oh yeah, one more thing, now I know why they are called the Steelers. They steal the victory in the last 2 minutes of the game !!

I answered the runtime issue yesterday in another thread you started:
http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=68202
The PM was to Ronjohn@SMMPCR's.
As to the programs competing with each other...as long as they aren't both running at the same time there is no competition. In fact you you can have two hundred programs to do the same thing and not have a problem, as long as you run them one at a time.
As to the name...Pittsburgh used to be known as Steel City. The area was, from sometime in the mid 1800s through the 1970s, the steel production center of the US.
Oh, and not to gloat....this makes 6!!!! :D :D :D :D (And yeah, I've been a fan since Bradshaw, Mean Joe and the boys did 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 70s).

PrntRhd: Got your answer on the other thread. Thanks.
Problem I'm having now, I can find Java in my Control Panel, but not in my Progarams, hence, I cannot figure how to "uninstall" Java, in order to reinstall a new version.
All runtime messages involve "EON" or "EON.UTILS IS NULL OR NOT AN OBJECT"
Anyway, how do I get rid of Java so I may reinsall it?
It isn't listed in Add/Remove programs?

Well, it wasn't in "Programs", but I didn't check "Add/Delete programs".
I'll go check and report back in a short.

Yes! I found it where yu said, and uninstalled it. Problem is the last wizard page said "you have sucessfully unistalled Java version 5.0 update 17. I thought that was what PrntRhd said was the version I wanted! Well, anyway I got the address to go get some more.
Nother issue, when I try to download one program I get a message about my "Pluggin failure to initialize". Any thoughts on that ?
