The licence on my MS Word expired some time ago and then became MS 2007 Trial version. Consequently I cannot create documents as the programme is now locked (I can only read) and cannot do anything with documents received by e-mail like editing or copy & paste or even expand spreadsheets.
I have been given a copy of MSW 2003 which I want to load but need to know whether this will affect any saved documents I already have.
If it doesn't load, is there some place I can acquire a Full Product Key (25 character) code without paying out €140 (or thereabouts) for the full authorised version?

Hi,
Try looking at this website, MS Office 2003 for $60 USD.

The addition, change or removal of office software will have no effect on the documents you have saved. It may effect how they are viewed and some of the extra features that can be used.

Do not expect an Office 2007 .docx to be fully backwards compatible with an Office 2003 suite. There are, simply put, features in Word2007 that did not exist in 2003.

If you are looking for a quick, easy fix to the MS hassle, consider making the swap to OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/). It is a free and open-source office suite, can run everything but .docx (and I think v3.0 can run that), and--oh, did I mention it's FREE???

As long as you have WXP or later then OO v3.0 is the way I would suggest you go. You can read the documents with the latest Word Reader but you wont be able to edit any of them.

This is the sort of nonsense one often sees with bundled or otherwise "trial" software. I have had two clients in the past fortnight with an identical problem.
