I have 2 or 3 spare 90mm fans lying around. I took one of them (12V) and clipped the endings of it and connected it to a spare 13V adapter. It works well as a neat little desktop fan:

Just thought I'd share it with you all. :D

Yep, those 12v fans are quite useful.
I once made a "Fan" out of 9 of these fans, all tied together in a 3x3 matrix - that produced some serious airflow :D

PSU fans can be quite powerful and perhaps in hot climates cases should be made with a directional PSU on the front of (or on a swivel on top of) the tower to assist with air conditioning the user!

Neat Idea! You can also make it a usb fan just get a usb cable cut the one end cut off all wires except the black and red connect the fan cables to the usb cord (red to red blk to blk) off you go. Use some stiff wire for a base

Really? lol I'd love to see a pic of that.

I would love to post one, but it is long since gone.
It's not hard to imagine what 9 80mm fans in a 3x3 grid would look like though. ;)

I have my tower sitting on the right side of the top of my desk and it has a fan bracket that swings out and holds 4 120mm 110CFM fans. I leave the left side panel off of the case and if I get hot I can swing the fans out so they blow on me.

Is 13V the optimum? I was thinking that I could put some fans in under ventilated cases but have them powered externally. That would be less drain on systems already under powered.

You can run any of those 12v computer fans on any voltage from 5v up to about 13.8v, but I would not exceed 14v maximum. 120mm fans running on 5 or 6 volts are virtually silent, but still move a reasonable amount of air. At 12v they move even more air, but are quite noisy. :)
