HTML link via text

I'm not HTML oriented and wonder how this is done/works.

Often, I see a highlighted text statment (Not - http://www.xxx.com)which, when clicked, moves the reader to a specific location. How's this accomplished?

It's done using the UBB code. Click on "click for details" in the legend on the left side of any posting screen for more info.
