Is it just me or have the latest release or two of Firefox introduced software that is extremely slow to start up, first time in? If you close Firefox then re-open it, it starts almost immediately. There must be some heavy system initialisation going on. It seems to be mainly the Windows version that is slow with the Linux version being quite a lot quicker. Maybe I need a HijackThis extract checking.

Are you talking about the first restart after the update?

Do you have a large number of add-ons?

One of the first things FF does, upon restarting is to check all the add-ons for updates.

The only known add on I have is Fire.fm for online music. It is slow starting every time I switch on the PC. I'm talking 30 secs to a minute. No other app. has this problem. If I shut down Firefox and start it again, it starts quickly. The same if I log out of one user and into another, it starts quickly. Some code must be left in memory. I think I'll try taking Fire.fm off and see what happens.
