I've replaced my motherboard and video card but still getting this same problem.

My screen has random lines that look like dots on some parts of the screen.

It got so bad on the original motherboard that I thought it was bad and replaced it after I tried a new video card. The new video card didn't change anything.

Specs:

ASUS P4P800-SE motherboard, P4, 3.0MHz, Thermaltake Volcano 7+ h/s w/ fan, 1GB Corsair memory (two 512MB matched pair), ATI Radeon 9800 XT video card, 2 Seagate 120GB hard drives (RAID-0), Creative Audigy 2 sound card, 430W Antec TruPower ps, and an Antec Cooler Master Wavemaster aluminum case (2 fans in front, one in back, plus power supply fan).

When it's running, my CPU temp says 45C; case temp is 35C

I would appreciate any help on this. It's driving my crazy!!!

Have you tried a different monitor?

Oh, yes! I went a bought a fairly good monitor. It's doing the same thing on my wife's Viewsonic and now on the Dell.

Thanks for replying!

Ok, today I tried to start the re-build and got nothing! The power comes on and I have a green LED on the motherboard indicating power to the board. Still, I get no beeps or anything.

I tried replacing the ram...changed nothing. I disconnected everything except the floppy drive (1.44MB legacy).

Still won't beep or even send anything to my monitor.

How can you tell if you CPU has gone bad?

That seems to be the only thing left to replace.

I would test the PSU. Unfortunately Antec has had a rather high failure rate with their PSU's the last year or two.
