View Full Version : Crysis Warhead???

Every time I try to run Crysis Warhead the game freezes up just after I click play...

My PC specs are in my sig. I feel like I should not only be able to run Crysis but be able to run it at top settings with my PC...

Any clue why this is happening? I just bought my first PC games (Empire: Total War, Fallout 3, and Crysis Warhead) today because I decided to try out some PC gaming for the first real time (I've played on and off but I've mostly stayed on the Xbox 360...

It's kind of upsetting when I get a nice computer and try to enjoy it and nothing works right. I got into Empire: Total War. I tried a battle to start off with and right after it loaded it said "Empire: Total War has encountered a problem and needs to close." I closed it and ran it again and it worked fine. I haven't tried Fallout 3 yet.

So, I figured I would look to everyone here for help seeing as I've never messed with PC games in depth. What should I do?

Forgot one thing. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I figured this may be the problem but it's just a wild guess from me...

If this is a problem, then what can I do to fix it? I assume there is a way to get around this if this is an issue because gaming companies would have to foresee this as an issue...

Anyway, just figured I would throw this out there considering it may be relevand to the situation and wasn't listed in my first post.

I really do appreciate all the help.

Thanks,

HT

What drivers are you running for this, BFG Nvidia Geforce 9800 GX2?

The brand new ones from BFG. I updated on Wednesday trying to get my dual monitor setup to work. Its the 182.08 released on March 3, 2009.

I tried Fallout 3 and it froze as well. I didn't even get to download this game. As soon as I hit run the PC froze up. So out of the 3 games the only one that works, as far as I know, is Empire: Total War.

Don't bother with the ones from BFG, grab them directly from Nvidia.

It's the same thing I have. I think the BFG site just links you to the Nvidia site when you ask for drivers. The latest drvier on the Nvidia site is the one I have.

Repeat for chipset drivers, audio drivers, NIC drivers and check for any updates from MS for DirectX.

OK. Can you help me out on that one?

I went to the Asus website to look for the drivers and I got confused. I put in all my info (Motherboard>Socket 775>Rampage Formula) and I came up with this expandable list that contained a lot of options. I don't really know what to look for and download from this point...

I'm running a SupremeFXII HD Audio card (came with the Rampage, but it's not onboard), a Rampage Formula x48 mobo, and I don't have an NIC card installed (I'm using the onboard ethernet)...

I truly had no idea what NIC was so I looked it up so if my comment about not having one was dumb, feel free to let me know...LOL...

Thanks for the help mjc,

HT

How are all the temps? and have you done any OC'ing that cause the PC to become unstable when the GPU/CPU/RAM/NB is under heavy usage?

try some other games COD 4/5 or any games that you have handy and see if the problem persists through out all games

Also do a downgrade on drivers or upgrade to the beta drivers (it could be a problem with the latest drivers)

Oh yes and make sure you have SP1 for vista and update (in case you haven't) ;)

Sorry for the long hiatus...

I downloaded the first driver no problem. The second one said that my PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements and the third and fourth ones said that the links were broken (probably because I waited so long to try them...)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

HT

Sorry about the last two, it was how I linked to them. You can get your audio and NIC driver from Asus's site (http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=Rampage%20Formula).

Don't worry about the storage driver then. If you are not running Raid or AHCI I don't think they will install.

OK will do.

Thanks.
