Hey gang! I'm checking out hardware for my first build, and was wondering if I can maybe cut the price a little, or maybe get some better hardware without raising it much. Here's what I have:

$5 more, you get a 500GB hard drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145215

600W PSU for $50. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182062 I have a Rosewell PSU on one of my machines, works great.

I like it otherwise. What exactly is your budget?

Ah, both good suggestions.

My initial budget was $800, but I have since determined I shouldn't spend quite so much of my student aid money. ;) I want to keep around $600.

With your suggestions, I have lowered it to $611 with tax and shipping.

UPDATED
Different PSU and Processor. Am I paying too much for any of this? I plan to do some upgrading a year or so down the line, am I limiting myself too much? Might I want to splurge a little for a better mobo?

I'm a little unsure of the whole "open box" thing to be honest. Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186147 $65.

Agreed. 15 day warranty on open box items. Great price, but that's not acceptable.

If I'm planning to upgrade this in a year or so, would I be doing myself a favor to get a $100+ mobo?

Depends on the upgrades. If you want SLI/Crossfire or a better processor, it might be worth the investment. For myself, I built this system in October, but 2 weeks ago I upgraded the video card since I stupidly bought a $35 one in October which isn't a bad card, just not a gaming card. The one I have now is in my siggy. Anyways, I also plan to make this into a quad core in 2 years or so and boost the RAM to 4 or 8GB.
