Custom Gaming Rig for under 1k

Hey fella's, awesome site you have!

I would like some suggestions of the best gaming rig i can get for about $1000 dollars US.

If anyones got a updated list of parts that would make the sweetest gaming rig for about that price, i would love to see it.

I wont be needing an OS, No mouse, no Keyboard.
but i will be needing a case

I'll probly just reformat my old harddrive and use that, unless this 1k budget can support something like a Raptor 10k drive, but it probly cant.

What about a monitor? If needed it can take a large chunk of the budget and will make a big difference on what parts I would pick.

What is type is your old hard drive? SATA II or PATA? Size?
