Hello everyone, I'm Upgrading my computer soon but I wanted to make sure I'm getting all the right stuff first. I want to get a new processor and a new graphics card. I have a Compaq Presario SR1300NX. It currently has a AMD Sempron 3000+ processor and no graphics card. (I'm guessing because the AGP slot is empty o.O) I was looking at a EVGA GeForce 6200 LE 512MB graphics card but the processor is a complete mystery because I don't know how to find out what will be compatible. I'm pretty sure about the graphics card but please tell me if I'm wrong. It has an AGP slot and it's an AGP card, that's all that matters right? I'm real new to this so any and all advice would be great. I want to be able to play PS2 games on my computer because I'm not having any luck with PS2's. I currently have 3 broken ones. x.x Anyway, I need a processor that is atleast SSE2 compatible. I saw the Sempron 64 2800+ says it is but I don't know if it will fit in my computer. Someone please help me I miss my games. :(

Your Compaq is a Socket A system, which is ancient, and can't be reasonably upgraded beyond your current Sempron 3000+ CPU. Technically, it looks like you could upgrade to an AthlonXP 3200+, but that would net you a mere 5-7% CPU performance boost (~0-1% overall system performance boost) for much much more money that it's worth. And even so, Socket A has no SSE2 CPU's, so there is no way to solve that issue.
On the plus side, your Compaq has an AGP slot! That's a lot more than Compaq/HP usually did for that era. You have a 1.5V AGP 8x/4x slot, which gives you room to upgrade the graphics, if nothing else. (Anything to get away from that VIA UniChrome junk!!) A GeForce 6200 LE, however, is far too... puny to be worthy of monetary expenditure. In other words, if you're thinking of "upgrading" to a GeForce 6200 LE, you might as well stay with your onboard video! That thing is cr@p for performance! If you're going to spend money at all, I'd recommend at least a Radeon HD 3650 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102814).
You can also upgrade the RAM in your Compaq up to 2GB. Think about that instead of a CPU upgrade.
