when i go to BIOS and go to the video card AGP place I have two options 64MB and 256MB is 64 2x and 256 4x?

Nope, that's the AGP Aperture size. The range of memory address space used by an AGP card for 3D support.It is the amount of memory the GART (Graphics Address Remapping Table) can see. This also determines the amount of system RAM alotted to the graphics card for texture storage.

Double your AGP memory size and add 12MB for virtual addressing. Too little and you'll get paging to the hard drive, too much and you'll get errors. 64MB is normally default, and is usually sufficient for most drivers., if you have such a card.

This setting is not performance related, nor does it affect 3DFX cards, as they do not support AGP texturing.
