Hello All,
I have a Compaq Presario 5000 P.C. with XP SP 3 installed, 2001 vintage and belongs to a friend. It was frozen up but I have managed to get it going reasonally well by getting rid of a lot of junk and running avast and defraging etc.He has just found the restore disks that came with it.
There are 2 options for restoring,Standard and full system.
Will the standard method clean the system of any bugs I missed or should the full system be used.
I can also use Fred Langa's XP no reformat, nondestructive, total rebuild option.I would probably use the standard method and if all is ok leave it at that. This machine only has dial up capabilities and will not be used on the internet.
Any reccomendations appreciated.
Wombil.
Thanks for this important information, keep it up......:)

I am having difficulty downloading PDF's out of any email client on my computer. I have XP Home, and have all the updates, and the latest version of Reader, but I cannot download the files. I have no problems downloading anything else, but PDF's won't download. I do invoices with PDF, so I need some assistance as soon as possible. Thanks!
Thanks for making me aware of such problem which may arise in due course.
I have a blog which may help you out to tweak your PC well :)

I'm thinking about buying a new computer sometime the last quarter of this year--or maybe a little latter. Has anyone heard anything from a reliable source as to When the final release of Win 7 is going be? I'd like to wait for it to be released before I buy One.
I have some information about windows 7..:)

Hi all,
The PC i m using has a built-in NIC. This PC never connects with any other PC through LAN. Problem is that the icon of LAN with "Cable unplugged" status always appear in the tray. Every time i chose "Always Hide" for it, it somehow resets it to "Hide when inactive"; and thus makes its annoying appearance there again.
Any solution please ?
The only solution in my eyes is that you must unmark the option "show icon in notification area when connected" found network connection option in Control panel. after entering this option just right click the icon and u will see the option yo unmark..
Hope it helps:)

Sorry, I cant help you right now..I will look for a exact solution and let you know ASAP

Just a curiousity, after the long gone discussion of vista vs xp, I'm curious, do anyone still use Xp? or have their friends using it? With Windows 7 is coming out, do people bother to go to vista? or they are on vista already?
I will remain stuck to XP...I may use Linux in due course though

Hi all,
The icons like "My Computer", "My doccuments" etc. are shown only when i choose "Classic Start menu". How to get these items displayed with the normal Win-XP start menu ?
Win-Xp Pro (SP2)
Thanks in advance.
Just right click on any icon on the start menu you want to be displayed
and select "show on desktop"....
