reinstalling XP

I am having some problems so I have decided to clean install xp.However I don't want to lose stored data.I have two partitions.One has the OS and the other has my data.How do I reinstall the XP on the OS partition without affecting the other partition.

Just with care. When it comes to the part of setup where you are given the choices of where to install to you would choose the OS partition and not go near the data partition. Follow all prompts carefully and back-off if unsure.

Valuable data should be backed-up, regardless, onto removable media since one never knows when a HDD will die or an accident occur.
