Hey all, newb here.

Im installing XPSP2 on a lenovo t500 work laptop. Im dualbooting Vista (preload) and XP.

Prob: The XP ver Im installing is throwing up the 7B stop error due to having incorrect hard disk drivers. I can F6 and tell it to boot with a different driver, but it goes looking for it on a floppy disk and obviously it doesnt have one...

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

You need a floppy for the F6 option but many modern machines will accept input at that stage from a USB floppy drive.

Otherwise you need to include the drivers on your own slipstreamed CD. nLite (http://www.nliteos.com/index.html)should be able to help you accomplish the task; try their forumus if its problematic.

Maybe the hardware is problematic in some way but I'm surprised that Windows XP wont load initially using standard base video drivers and wonder if you do not have some other problem with the CD or the BIOS settings.

It's also worth pointing out that the partitioning can be critical adding WinXP after Vista (http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=931854) unless you prepared the partition for XP in advance using Vista's disk management. XP may not see certain partitions when Vista was pre-installed. Either partition using only Vista or using only legacy (pre vista) software - not a mix of both.
